The library is pleased to host a new exhibit, Prison Nation: Posters on the Prison Industrial Complex, an exhibition from the archives of Center for the Study of Political Graphics.

Tile Glazing Workshop to Support Merced Multicultural Arts Center

You are invited to glaze a tile which will be permanently installed on the risers of the steps inside the art gallery of the Multicultural Arts Center (MCAC).The Library will host 2 tile-glazing workshops on Sunday, February 3. The workshops will be conducted by local artist Monika Modest (Tree of Life tile mural in Bob Hart Square, and the Faces of Merced tile murals at the G Street underpass).

Library to Launch Open Access Fund Pilot

Beginning Tuesday, January 15, 2013, the UC Merced Library will launch a pilot fund to support open access publishing costs. Along with all other UC campus libraries, we are partnering with the California Digital Library (CDL), to assist scholars who do not have other grant funds available to pay for open access publishing fees.

CRL to purchase 11 new collections

Many major microform and reprint sets and collections can be too costly for individual institutions, and are not readily available through interlibrary loan. Through the CRL Purchase Proposal Program, libraries nominate microform and hard copy collections for CRL purchase. Participation in this cooperative purchase program is one of the benefits of a CRL membership.

Access to Electronic Book Library (EBL) titles has been improved!

EBL titles are now accessible with your UCMnetID rather than a separate account. You can also access EBL titles with your UCMnetID and password from off-campus locations even if you are not connected through the VPN.

New Springer platform access issues and work-around

Springer online content (journals, books, protocols) moved to a new platform last Monday (November 26th). Currently, access issues with the new Springer platform are being reported from all UC campuses. Springer customer service is aware of the issues and is working on correcting them.

New Springer platform effective 11/26/12

Springer journal and ebook content migrated to a new Springer platform on Monday, November 26. All users are now redirected to the new SpringerLink. The new platform is faster, easier to use, and optimized for most mobile devices.

New resource in the library: JSTOR Arts & Sciences XI

The focus of JSTOR XI will be on the humanities, with emphasis on language and literature, history, art and architecture, classical studies, and music. Other subjects covered will include religion, philosophy, archaeology, performing arts and film studies, American studies, Asian studies, Jewish studies, and African American studies.
