|"Simplicity/Complexity: Digital Works by Ryan Hoover" Digital Exhibit|
UC Merced Library is pleased to present our first exclusively digital exhibit - "Simplicity/Complexity: Digital Works by Ryan Hoover". In partnership with SSHA faculty member Kenichi Yoshida, this exhibit features the work of video artist Ryan Hoover. Hoover's "Simplicity/Complexity" series is largely inspired by the motion studies of 19th century photographer Eadwaerd Muybridge.
"Hoover discovers within Muybridge's visual field a blind passage that lead to the archaic depth of movement's memory that begins outside of humanity. From these archival images he sculpts the preshistory of motility, a world of simple molecular movements before the complexity of anthropomorphic kinetics."
