DLM Lab Tour: SpARC exhibit

Come check out the latest exhibit featured in UC Merced Library’s DLM Lab Tour Series – “DLM Lab Tour: SpARC”. SpARC stands for Spatial Analysis Research Center, a brand new resource center that aims to become the hub for spatial science research, analysis, education, visualization, spatial data archiving, and access to spatial science software and equipment for UC Merced and its partners.

SpARC was established in 2013 by three UC Merced faculty members - Dr. Ruth Mostern (School of the Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts), Dr. Shawn Newsam (School of Engineering), and Dr. Qinghua Guo (School of Engineering).

In true UC Merced form, SpARC has clearly defined a set of ambitious and challenging goals from the outset:

  • SpARC will become the hub for spatial science research, analysis, education, visualization, spatial data archiving, and access to spatial science software and equipment for UC Merced and its partners.
  • SpARC will lead faculty and community partner grants for research and other activities with a spatial aspect and collaborate on ongoing projects.
  • SpARC will support expanded undergraduate curriculum in geography and spatial sciences.

A genuine lab of the future, SpARC had a Twitter account before it even had a website. Follow them @UCMercedSpARC.

You can read more about SpARC on their webpage - http://sparc.ucmerced.edu

The exhibit will run from February 18th - May 19th, 2014 on the 3rd floor of the library.
