Head Games: Ceramic Sculpture by Pancho Jimenez
Francisco "Pancho" Jiménez was born in New York City and raised in Santa Clara, California. Working in clay, his compelling sculptures range from intimate pieces to those of an architectural scale.
Pancho's love of clay began as a child and has remained his primary medium throughout his artistic explorations. He is drawn to the physical aspect of the material - a malleable and versatile medium - and the historical aspect of clay - a material that has been used for hundreds of thousands of years. Pancho views the material as a gateway to a contemplative place where creativity comes alive and flourishes.
Pancho holds an M.F.A. in Ceramic Sculpture from San Francisco State University, and his BA degree from Santa Clara University. He has exhibited locally and nationally at universities, private galleries and civic spaces. He has taught courses at San Francisco State University, West Valley College and has been a lecturer at Santa Clara University since 1999.
