This presentation introduces the fundamentals of the data curation lifecycle by examining UC Merced Library’s recent data curation of two diaries from the American Civil War period.
Mary Weppler-Selear holds a graduate certificate in Digital Information Management from the University of Arizona, and a Master's of Arts in a Special Major (Art history and Humanities) from California State University, Sacramento. In her current position at UC Merced, she manages library services and exhibits. The bulk of her responsibilities reside in managing the library's large student employment program in addition to coordinating and curating both physical and digital exhibits throughout the library. In the past year, she has delivered presentations at two international conferences (Arts in Society, Berlin, and the Technology, Knowledge & Society, Los Angeles) on the subjects of art history and data curation.
