A blog (short for web log) is a type of website, often maintained by an individual, that consists of regular diary-type entries usually displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs can be a good source of information, although the credibility of the author must be considered. Blogs that are part of organizational websites, (for example the New York Times hosts dozens of blogs on a wide variety of topics) may be considered more credible than unaffiliated blogs, but should still be treated as popular rather than scholarly sources.
