  2. Good academic standing.

Support

  • One fellowship award will be made this academic year.
  • Recipients will receive a fellowship offer of $2,000. Funds will dispurse by the end of Spring 2022.

Student Loan Impact

Per federal guidelines, all fellowship and tuition support is taken into consideration when determiningstudent loan eligibility.  If you receive federal student loans during the same academic year as this award, please note that this award could reduce your student loan eligibility resulting in a loan overpayment.  If so, this award would be applied to the overpayment and the remaining balance, if any, would then be disbursed.   Your loan debt would then be reduced accordingly.  Please check with the Office of Financial Aid before accepting any fellowships if you are concerned about the impact an award may have on your student loan eligibility.

Foreign Persons

All foreign persons receiving fellowship or scholarship payments from UC Merced are required to use GLACIER, our Online Tax Compliance System, to submit tax information.  This will allow us to determine your tax residency, withholding rates, and income tax treaty eligibility and ensure compliance with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules and regulations. Fellowship disbursements may be delayed until a GLACIER profile is complete. If you have any questions regarding completing or updating your GLACIER profile, please email tax@ucmerced.edu.

Use of Funds

Funds may be used specifically for costs of attendance (i.e. tuition, fees, books and supplies) or for general support (living, transportation, and personal expenses) necessary to support the pursuit of educational and career goals.
