Structures of Utility Photography Added to Library Permanent Art

Fri, August 8, 2014

Photographs by California photographer David Stark Wilson have been added to the library's
permanent art collection. The images are part of Wilson's "Structures of Utility" series, which
captures the beauty and allure of abandoned man-made machines and structures that dot the
Central California landscape.

Images in the collection will be familiar to those who live in the valley and have seen similar sites of
abandoned hydraulic mines, stamp mills, windmills, tank houses, grain elevators and silos. Wilson's
photography can be found framed throughout the 2nd floor of the UC Merced Library.
