UC Merced COVID-19 Response Archive

The UC Merced COVID-19 Response Collection chronicles the actions taken by the University in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This Collection aims to document and preserve those materials that document UC Merced's collective decision making to the pandemic in order to maintain and continue the University's academic, research, and public service missions. The Collection will be professionally accessioned, described, and preserved in order to provide the widest possible access to current and future researchers and historians.

Materials in this collection will be preserved for future research in the UC Merced Library's University Archives. Materials collected for this Collection can include, but are not limited to, those that:

  • document the activities of campus individuals involved in the University's response to the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • document communications between the University and local government;
  • document communications between University Administration and the campus community;
  • document the campus community's responses to, and experiences during, the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, materials produced explicitly for memorials during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, or materials produced in anticipation of anniversary events related to the COVID-19 pandemic, may be included. These types of materials may include the following:

  • campus produced ephemera related to the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • campus community produced artworks responding to the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • recordings of performances, or other events responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All materials held in the Collection will be made available for research. Physical materials will be made available by appointment, and digital items will be made available online.
