The UC Merced Library is committed to the ALA Code of Ethics and strives to protect library users’ right to privacy and confidentiality. We collect information such as names and email addresses when you ask questions, borrow materials, and use our resources. We gather this information in order to improve our services and evaluate the effectiveness and reach of our collections. We regularly scrub personally identifiable information, including names and email addresses where possible and applicable, and we limit the information collected and the amount of time we keep it. The Library only uses your personal information for the purposes for which it was provided.
Please note that the Library does not control the data usage practices of outside vendors and third party sites. While the Library makes an effort to secure user privacy practices in these cases, users are also encouraged to read the privacy statements of these vendors and sites.
