Please join us for an author talk featuring Associate Professor Kevin Dawson. Dawson's book, Undercurrents of Power: Aquatic Culture in the African Diaspora, a finalist for the Lapidus Center's 2019 Harriet Tubman Prize, explores the prowess and culture of West Africans, who took these skills with them into New World slavery, and used them to shape their lives in ways that are often overlooked.
