Course Resources

Course Resources are shelved behind the Library Services Desk and circulate for a two hour, library use only loan. Visit Course Resources to learn more about the Course Resources Program and to access our online submission form.

You can search for available Course Resources materials in UC Library Search by searching for the professor or specific title.

  • Students can check out two Course Resource items at a time.
  • Students can place up to two, same day holds on Course Resource items in use by other patrons. Holds expired within 30 minutes of pickup notification.
  • Course Resources accrue overdue fees at a rate of $1/minute up to a maximum charge of $60.
  • Course Resources more than 72 hours overdue are considered lost. Replacement and processing fees will be applied in addition to overdue fees.
  • Course Resource items are due 30 minutes prior to closing. Due times will be adjusted accordingly.

Returning Materials

Return items to the drop slot outside of the library near the College Bookstore entrance or the return box by the second floor Services Desk.

Recalled Materials

Recalled materials are items that have been requested by another UC Merced student, faculty or staff member.

  • Books and other materials are subject to recall one week after you check them out.
  • Recalled items must be returned immediately.
  • Failure to return recalled items promptly will result in suspension of borrowing privileges.

Overdue Materials

  • Borrowing privileges are suspended until overdue materials are returned.
  • Items more than 30 days overdue are considered lost and patrons are charged replacement plus processing fees.
  • Borrowing privileges are reinstated when overdue items are returned and fees are paid.

Replacement and Processing Frees

  • Lost items are billed at the replacement cost of $100 or current market price, whichever is higher, plus a $25 processing fee.
  • When a lost item is returned, the replacement cost is removed from your record; the $25 processing fee still applies.
  • Charges outstanding for more than 30 days are referred to a collection agency.
  • Outstanding charges may result in blocked access to transcripts.

Current students can pay for Library fees online through MyBill. Individuals without a UCMNetID can use CashNet. Please email for additional payment and replacement options.

All borrowers must comply with library policies and agree to pay fees for lost and damaged materials. Failure to comply with established policies may result in suspension of Library privileges.
