Our goal is to engage students more deeply with information literacy topics through pre-activities and in-person library sessions that involve team problem-solving and facilitated conversation.
For Writing 10 and upper-division Writing classes, you will be asked to select one or two topics for your students and have them complete associated pre-activities prior to the in-person library session. Any remaining class time can be used for students to find information for their own research questions.
Pre-activities are available on our library guides or in the Canvas Commons for import into your CatCourses sites. Explore topic offerings and student pre-activities by visiting the links in the table below.

Alternative Options
The Library Tour is available for students to take independently. We have pre-recorded on-demand workshops available on our website. Additionally, we can create targeted asynchronous materials such as online tutorials and videos in support of your course outcomes.
If you are interested in a Wikipedia collaboration, please contact Elizabeth McMunn-Tetangco emcmunn@ucmerced.edu or email us at library@ucmerced.edu.
Notes
- We are unable to provide general orientations or instruction for Writing 1.
- We will not be able to fulfill sessions when an instructor or TA is not able to attend.
