Selected Works: Graduate Student Research @ UC Merced is an annual exhibit that recognizes the exciting research being conducted by graduate students at UC Merced.

This spring, the Selected Works exhibit features the research and accomplishments of Violet Barton and Mehdi Baharmi. 

Violet Barton is a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Humanities program at the University of California, Merced. As a Critical Race and Ethnic Studies scholar working with Dr. Ma Vang, her research interests in Critical Refugee Studies investigate how the transnational stateless refugee-subject from the global South resists, survives and subverts the global North. Ms. Barton has an extensive background in Public Policy Development, Health Care Administration, and gender-based violence.

Mehdi Bahrami is a PhD student in Computer Science. He works in the Cloud Lab at the University of California, Merced and is a senior member of the IEEE. He has more than 10 years of software industry experience and more than 5 years of teaching experience in the field of computer science. He has published several technical papers in the areas of Cloud Computing Architecture. His research interests include Cloud Computing, Data Privacy and Data Security in Cloud Computing, Big Data and Software Engineering.
