Plan Your Visit

Due to the unique and sometimes fragile nature of our collections, materials are available for access under supervised use and by appointment only. We also offer remote reference and reproduction services.

We require a minimum of 10 days’ advance notice for in-person research visits. Because some of our materials are stored offsite, we may need additional notice to retrieve and arrange for use of materials.

  1. See our guide to research and how to find materials.
  2. Contact archives@ucmerced.edu or schedule an online reference appointment.
  3. Prepare for your visit.
    1. Prior to visiting the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room, researchers must register using this registration form.
    2. In order to access the Reading Room, you will need to present a photo ID. The information on your ID must match the information provided in the registration form. While working in the Reading Room, you must abide by all policies and guidelines.
    3. Visitor parking with paid hourly parking permits are available on campus.
    4. Please see the TAPS website for more information.

Tours

If you are interested in visiting Archives and Special Collections, we can arrange tours for small groups of 5 or fewer people during our operating hours. We require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for tours. Tours for classes or other larger groups will require additional arrangements. Please contact archives@ucmerced.edu.
