GIS Center Goals & Mission
The GIS Center (formerly known as the Spatial Analysis and Research Center - SpARC) is an interdisciplinary center and GIS laboratory open to students, faculty, and staff currently located in SSM 209.
- The GIS Center serves as the hub for geospatial science research, analysis, training, workshops, technical support, education, visualization, spatial data archiving, and access to spatial science software and equipment for UC Merced and its partners.
- The GIS Center leads faculty and community partner grants for research and other activities with a spatial aspect and collaborates on ongoing projects.
- The GIS Center supports expanded undergraduate curriculum in geography and spatial sciences by providing guidance to faculty and curricula developers in integrating GIS into coursework.
