The GIS Lab @ in currently in SSM 209 but closed to staff use only until further notice. We will be moving to the University Library in Spring 2022Our lab accommodates workshops and one-on-one training for geospatial analysis and data processing.
The computing hardware in the GIS Center has 10 Alienware workstations running Intel® Core™ i7-7700K Processor (4-Cores, 8MB Cache, Turbo Boost 2.0, Overclocked up to 4.4GHz), Video Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti with 11GB GDDR5X, 64GB (4x16G) 2400MHz DDR4 Memory and 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD (Boot) + 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s of hard drive storage. Workstations are equipped with two 17” monitors or one 35” curved display for superior visualization.
GIS software including ArcGIS and QGIS are installed on all machines with regular updates. Other programs including R and Microsoft Office are installed for our users. The GIS lab also has a 55" Samsung Smart Tablet / Whiteboard to use for interactive mapping demonstrations and workshop presentations.
